What is Rake?

Rake is how poker rooms make their money. The poker room chares the poker player in a variety of ways including :

• Cash Rake-Usually the rake is a couple of percent with a cap at around $3 at the highest limits. There is also rake on tournaments, where the large portion of the buy in goes to the prize pool, and a small fee goes to the poker site.
• Tournament Rake- Poker Tournaments have costs associated with entry - the registration fee. The poker room keeps the registration fee when you enter a tournament on an online poker site/network

What is Rakeback?

Rakeback is a refund to the poker player of a %age of the rake which they pay to the poker room (via cash-tables and tournament entry fees). With a rakeback deal, poker players receive a rebate of a large percentage of the rake which they contribute to the poker room during a month (usually up to 30%). This can add up to a hefty sum: in some cases players will receive rakeback of over €2k a month, meaning that even if they have a breakeven month they still make a significant profit!

A normal Rakeback deal usually offers a refund of 20% to 40% to the player, however but sometimes players can get an even better offer.

If you rake $1000 in one month, you will get $350 back with a 35% Rakeback deal. The more you rake, the more you get back.
